“Brad’s Night Out.” short features Nashville comics
by NashvilleStandUp.com on Oct.22, 2009, under funny stuff
ilovebetty productions recently put together “Brad’s Night Out” – a funny short shot at Zanies featuring quite a few comics familiar to fans of Nashville’s comedy scene including Brad Edwards, Sean Parrott, Lahna Turner, Dan Whitehurst, Perry Redd, Scott D. Hill, Tim Long, Courtney Meyers, Joe Southards, Janet Williams and Joel T Wilson. Let’s all watch together as comedian Brad Edwards “finds love in the most unlikely of places:”
Tennessean: “Musicians rock comedy: Flight of the Conchords, others use music to get laughs” Misses The Local Angle
by NashvilleStandUp.com on Apr.09, 2009, under news, press
Today The Tennessean’s Dave Paulson wrote about Friday’s sold out Flight Of The Conchords show at The Ryman, mentioning Spinal Tap, The Doyle and Debbie Show, Doug Stanhope & The Mattoid (who are at the Exit/In Friday night) and a few Nashville-based funny musicians as well. Read the whole article over at The Tennessean.
It’s an okay write-up, but only okay. Dave could have looked deeper than Nashville’s “funny musicians” to find his local angle. For example..

Lahna Turner
Occasionally, Lahna produces “The Music City Comedy Show” at Zanies Comedy Showplace – a night of funny people who have music in their comedy acts. In the past, the lineups have included Rik Roberts, Steve Goodie, Wynn Reichert, Sean Parrott, Bucky Habanero, and Shantel Adams.

Rik Roberts

Steve Goodie
Wynn Reichert uses a tongue-in-cheek delivery to belt out tunes like, “I Need To Get Laid,” and audience favorite, “Sometimes I Wish I was Black.” Wynn is originally from California, lives in Nashville and tours internationally.

Sean Parrott
Speaking of the Mangy Dog Whoop Dee Doo, this Nashville-based podcast consistently features funny songs and parodies and whatnot produced by local professional funny people Jesse Perry, Mark Anundson, the previously mentioned Sean Parrott, Damian Anaya, Brad Edwards and more..

Mark Anundson
This isn’t nearly a comprehensive list of ALL the musical comedy acts in Nashville.. but it’s a start. Keep an eye on the NashvilleStandUp calendar for upcoming shows featuring these very funny people.
Dive Laughing Open Mic @ Springwater
by NashvilleStandUp.com on Apr.01, 2009, under shows

Join an eclectic mix of Nashville’s stand-up comics, bar regulars and crazy homeless drifters at Springwater tonight for the Dive Laughing Open mic stand-up comedy show. Comic sign-ups start at 8:30 pm, show starts at 9. Tonight’s special guest host will be Brad Edwards. All are welcome.
Occurring the first Wednesday of every month, there’s always an element of danger with comedy shows at Springwater. Several things can be rough: the crowds, the language, and finding a seat in the packed house. You never know what’s going to happen, but you can bet it’ll be funny and exciting. If you’re lucky, maybe Dave Cloud will drop his pants! (Actually, that’s very likely.)

Recap: Jan. 7, 2009 “Dive Laughing” Open Mic @ Springwater
by Chad Riden on Jan.09, 2009, under funny stuff

There’s always an element of danger with comedy shows at the Springwater Supper Club. Several things can be rough: the crowds, the language, and finding a seat in the packed house. You never know what’s going to happen, but you can bet it’ll be funny and exciting.
Brad Edwards hosted this month’s edition of the “Dive Laughing” open mic comedy night on Wednesday. The place was smoky as always.. there was a dog named Zeus wandering around.. and the crowd was ready to laugh. Corey Reppond has put together a video sampler of jokes from the night which is now available on YouTube and embedded below.
The “Dive Laughing” open mic happens the first Wednesday of every month, with the next show falling on February 4th at 9pm. All are welcome.
