Mark Anundson Night in Nashville (3/22)

Mark Anundson

Mark Anundson is the host of WRVU’s wildly popular Tuesday morning show, “Get Up, Stand Up” (8-9 a.m. on 91.1 FM and streaming/archived online in the horrible RealPlayer format at wrvu.org); the man behind the “Happy For Apathy” podcast; the “Fungineeer” for MangyDog.com‘s “MangyDog Radio Hour Whoop-Dee-Doo“; and a very funny comic.

Sunday night he will be headlining TWO shows in Nashville. Starting at 6 p.m., the Improv Nashville Comedy Theater’s “Sunday Stand-up Showcase Showdown And Stuff,” (hosted by “America’s Favorite Comedian Of All Time,” Chad Riden) is a showcase of touring, professional stand-up comedians plus random guest sets from Nashville-based comics and surprise, impromptu sets potentially available for anybody who brings fresh Funny with ‘em AND a “Iron Comic” competition where two comics write as many jokes as they can in an hour about a random topic suggested by the audience. Admission is $5, tickets are available at the door (doors open at 5:15) and in advance online. (The show was completely sold out last week, so buying tickets in advance is strongly encouraged.) The Improv Nashville Comedy Theater is at 2907 12th Avenue South; Nashville, TN 37204.

Then, the Music Row Bar & Grill hosts an open mic from 8:30 – 10pm, with Mark headlining at 10. No cover. Music Row Bar & Grill is actually nowhere near Music Row – it’s behind SATCO at 416 21st Avenue S.; Nashville, TN 37203-2455.

Mr. Anundson will have his keyboard at the Improv Nashville show, so he might just be performing some musical comedy mixed in with his stand-up. When asked what audience members should expect, Mark said, “expect the expected.” Since we already expected the unexpected, the expectations are high (and confusing).

  1. While Chad Riden is my favorite comedian of all time, Mark Anundson IS pretty funny. I’ll definitely be there.
