The Most RACES Show on Earth! Comes to Nashville, TN for One Night Only!
Friday, Oct.5, 2012 – Tickets on Sale Now!
Racial stereotypes, ethnic clichés and culture differences
will be at the forefront on October 5 as the Bongo After Hours Theatre hosts one of North
America’s most entertaining multicultural comedic showcases, The Most RACES Show on
Earth! (MRSOE!).
MRSOE! is a stand-up comedy show that examines racial and ethnic differences through the
lens of laughter. After selling out numerous venues in Canada and the United States since 2005,
MRSOE! is embarking on its first tour across the southeastern U.S. The show in Nashville is one
of 16 stops.
“The Most RACES Show on Earth! helps us to better understand one another. The barriers
between cultures cannot be easily dissolved; sometimes it’s actually the shock value of a lot of
the jokes that inspires people to start thinking. The more we realize our differences, the more we
are the same because we all laugh at the same things,” says Neil Bansil, creator and producer of
MRSOE!.
This show features a rotating cast of seven funny and edgy comedians from various ethnicities
including: Noah Gardenswartz (Jewish-American – 2012 Bay Area Comedy Competition Semi-
finalist); Mia Jackson (African-American – Writer for 2011 BET Soul Train Awards); Viet Huynh
(Vietnamese-American – 2009 Southeastern Funny People Search Winner); Daniel Tirado
(Polish-Peruvian – Montreal’s Just for Laughs), Rob Haze (African-American – Laughing Skull
Lounge); Trixx (Ghanaian-Canadian – NY Comedy Festival); and Neil Bansil (Filipino-Canadian-
American – Creator MRSOE!).
The Most RACES Show on Earth! takes place on Friday, October 5, at 8:30 p.m., at the Bongo
After Hours Theatre. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. A portion of the proceeds
from each show will go towards the YWCA Stand Against Racism initiative. For tickets, visit www.mrsoe.com or visit the Bongo After Hours Theatre at 2007 Belmont Ave.
Billy Wayne Davis is the thinking man’s hillbilly. With a combination of subtle, disarming intelligence and an unmistakable comfort on stage, he has the rare ability to win over every kind of comedy audience imaginable. After making a name for himself in his homeland of Nashville, TN, he has gone on to perform in virtually every corner of the United States, from the deep south to the “alternative comedy” hotbed of Seatte, WA, which he now calls home. Billy Wayne’s comedy really has no discernible category. He can be personal, shocking, political and absurd, but his ability to form an instant connection with audiences allows him to get away with anything and everything. For Billy Wayne Davis, no subject matter is off limits because there is nothing he can’t make funny with his trademark drawl and easy charm.
Nate Bargatze, Vandy fanNate is originally from Old Hickory, TN and currently resides in NYC. His father is a former clown turned world class magician and Nate has followed in his footsteps in the entertainment business. “Nate Bargatze is going to be huge and this album is proof. 52 minutes of classic comedy done right. A fresh and innocent take on story-driven stand-up, 100% unedited. Highly recommended to anyone reading this sentence.” – A Special Thing Records
The Geek Media Expo (GMX), the Nashville area’s Next Generation Multi-Fandom exposition, is bringing teh funny to the world of geekdom on Friday, October 26th. The laughs strike back with the Geek Comedy Showcase II: Laugh Harder, part of the featured programming at GMX Volume IV. You WOULD buy that for a dollar! How to Audition: This year, GMX is going “high tech” via online video auditions! You will need to film a video (webcam videos are fine, just don’t be naked and creepy) to be posted to YouTube (or equivalent video hosting site) featuring YOUR best geek comedy material. The video must be 3 minutes or less.
What is geek comedy? If the content can be found at GMX, that’s what we want! Material focusing on comic books, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, science and technology, action figure collecting, video games, cartoons, Dungeons & Dragons, cosplaying, living in your parents’ basement…this is prime for the Geek Comedy Showcase. We’ve heard all the jokes before about your lack of athletic prowess, flailing marriage, lackluster sex life, inane traffic run-ins with the cops and arguments with the in-laws. Leave those jokes to the Muggles! GMX is the Geek Media Expo, and we are looking for a special brand of comedy and a special breed of comedian for this event. Once you have filmed your video, you will need to post it to YouTube or a similar site. Send us a link to the video. Do not send the video to us directly as an attachment.
Please email video links to: gmx-geek@geekmediaexpo.com.
Judging: A panel of four judges will be selected to rate your audition video based on a host of super secret variables. Not since the KFC recipe has a formula been so closely guarded. Just be funny. That’s all we ask.
The GMX Girls will host the event (and be hit on by all the comics)The Prize: Winners will receive up to 10 minutes of stage time to perform a comedy routine as part of the 2012 Geek Comedy Showcase. You and a guest of your choosing (imaginary friends welcome) will receive complimentary passes to GMX ($70 value). Please be mindful of the time for your comedy set. We run a very tight schedule at GMX and we simply cannot accommodate overruns.
The Hosts: The Geek Comedy Showcase will once again be hosted by The GMX Girls – Gia, Mia and Xia!
Deadline for Submissions: October 3rd at 11:59 PM. Winners will be announced no later than October 6th.
