Comedy Classes for Teens and Adults Taught By Rik Roberts

A lot of people say you can’t teach funny.. but you can teach writing and you can give wanna-be comics some experience to help them hit the stage running. Comedian Rik Roberts is teaching a series of classes at Bongo Java for adults and an intro to comedy series this summer at the Nashville Public Library downtown for teens only.
Rik says, “I’m starting to get some real good folks who are in it for the long haul. The camaraderie these students have really helps them find some comedy buddies for support until they get over the hump.”
To sign up for classes, contact Rik Roberts at 1.888.895.8549 or email him at rik [at] rikroberts.com. Read on for details about each series of classes..

Sue Fabisch’s “Wal-Mart Woman” in CMT “Music City Madness” Round 2

Round Two of the CMT “Music City Madness” Contest ends March 5th at Midnight EST. Nashville’s own Sue Fabisch has a song in the running and she NEEDS YOUR VOTE!
Go now and vote for Sue Fabisch’s “Wal-Mart Woman”:

Whether it’s 25 people or a group of 5000, Top 10 Billboard Artist Sue Fabisch (pronounced Fay-bish) has made them laugh (and cry!). Her hit parody, “The MOM of Constant Sorrow”, catapulted her onto the mainstream airwaves of country music when it found it’s way to over 200 radio stations and the video network Great American Country. The song seemed to strike a chord out in the real world, where all of Sue’s songs are real-life scenarios for over-worked and underpaid parents.

A Keith Alberstadt Update

From Keith:
New York City is keeping me busy. I was in the Sirius Satellite Radio studios a few weeks ago with PJ Walsh on the Blue Collar comedy channel, and we had a blast hanging out. His show is “Wall to Wall Good Stuff” on Sirius Channel 103, and I’ll be making another visit there soon, so look out for that.
I’ve made more stops in studio with the nationally-syndicated Bob and Tom Show and the John Boy and Billy Show over the past couple of months. If you missed those broadcasts, you should really feel ashamed of yourself. Really.
I’m still writing sports jokes for “National Lampoon’s Sports Minute…Or So”. The bit/program is bi-weekly and has been picked up by various radio stations nationwide, and will probably be syndicated in print soon.
I’m writing my butt off as usual. I just posted a new humor column about my somewhat neurotic germaphobia. Check it out here. I’m also writing more monologue-type jokes about the latest headlines. Check out the latest here. I’ve been asked to re-post my column from last year about Lent. Rather than repost it, you can check it out by clicking here.
I’m not just in the Big Nutty Apple, though. I’m still on the road every now and then, including more military tours (Navy tour to Hawaii is coming up…oh, baby!). Make sure to stop by a show when I’m in your town. And tell your friends, unless they’re crazy.

Keith Alberstadt of KeithComedy.com, ladies and gentlemen.

cmt-comedy-stage.jpg
On Friday, February 2nd, at 8:30 p.m. (Central), CMT premiers “CMT Comedy Stage” – its new stand-up comedy series that was taped right here in Nashville at the historic and beautiful Bellcourt Theatre. NashvilleStandUp was there for the taping of the first four episodes in January, so look for several Nashville-based comedians in the audience AND on-stage. We also gave away tickets to the taping to members of our mailing list. Lee Campbell wrote to thank us saying, “The show was awesome!!!” ..and it was.
Melissa Peterman (from “Reba”) hosts the shows, which feature 14 comics performing stand-up: Trish Suhr, Gary Mule Deer, Kelly Terranova, Etta May, Killer Beaz, Tom Mabe, Vic Henley, Jon Reep, Robert Hawkins, Nate Bargatze, Greg Warren, Greg Hahn, John Wesley Austin and Mike Armstrong.
