SEARCH FOR BEST NEW COMEDIAN
Working in collaboration with its national media partner, COMEDY CENTRAL, the IMPROV and WFOR/CBS4, the SOUTH BEACH COMEDY FESTIVAL’s comedian search has become a breeding ground for new talent and for some lucky comic, an excellent opportunity to be launched into comedic stardom. Previous winners include Malik Sanon and Flip Schultz, both of whom have gone on to appear on COMEDY CENTRAL’s multi-platform series “Live At Gotham”.
This year, the SBCF has joined forces with two of the biggest names in broadcasting, Paul Castronovo & Young Ron from BIG 105.9 FM’s “The Paul & Young Ron Show”, to create the “So, You Think You’re Funny?” search for the best, new comedian.
Open calls at the IMPROV comedy clubs in Tampa, West Palm Beach, & Miami, FL take place the first week of January 2008, with a semi-final round on Wednesday, January 9th, 2008 in Miami. Video clips of the semi-finalist performances will be streamed online at WFOR/CBS4’s website (cbs4.com/comedy) where viewers can vote for their favorite comedian to determine who gets the last coveted slot in the Finals.
Audiences will witness the launch of a new career as talented finalists will compete at the Finals during the SOUTH BEACH COMEDY FESTIVAL on Friday, January 18th, 2008 at the Colony Theatre –hosted by Paul Castronovo & Young Ron.

Keith Alberstadt’s Knee, Computer Explodes
I’d like to say that Nashville-native comedian Keith Alberstadt is doing just fine in New York City, but that’d be a lie. Keith was playing basketball a couple weeks ago and his knee exploded on him. I think the shrapnel killed a teammate.. it was pretty gory. It’s OK now.. he’s had surgery and I believe they reconstructed it with some spare parts they had laying around.
