Based in Los Angeles by way of Atlanta, Dave Stone was named one of the “12 Comics to Watch” for 2013 by LA Weekly. Dave was a semi-finalist in CMT’s “Next Big Comic” in 2012 and in 2010 was named one of the top 8 up-and-coming comics in the country by Rooftopcomedy.com. Dave can be heard voicing several characters on Adult Swim’s hit animated series “Squidbillies” on the Cartoon Network and is a co-founding member of the nationally acclaimed “Beards of Comedy Tour”, who recently released their sophomore album “Cardio Mix” on Comedy Central Records and their web series “Beards Across America” has received over 1,000,000 views on MSN.com. Since 2008, Dave has spent 175+ days a year on the road, sharing stages with some of the industry’s brightest stars, such as Brian Regan, Patton Oswalt, Maria Bamford, Doug Benson, Marc Maron, Greg Proops and John Mulaney. Dave’s laid back and self-deprecating style make him a hit with a wide variety of audiences, transcending age, race, class, gender, height and weight.

Intelligence, debauchery, and all around entertainment, Mo Alexander is one of the most complete comics working in clubs and private events around today. Since 1995, his comedic skills have given way to bigger opportunities on television, such as appearances on ABC’s Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, Comedy Central’s Laugh Riot, the BET staple Comic View and has even made an appearance in Poison’s Bret Michael’s film, Letters from Death Row.

Mo has no aspirations of resting on his laurels while there is funny to be spread upon this earth. While continuing headlining, Alexander pushes with radio shows, podcast and acting work in his spare time.

Mo Alexander is the product of Memphis, Tennessee, growing up mere yards from the World Famous Stax Records. Whether it was being raised by his grandmother, Memphis or his Catholic high school upbringing, Mo’s outlook on life is helping him to save the world in his jaded manner.

Watching Mo Alexander is a night of hilarity and mischief that one won’t soon forget. Though, he usually tries to leave you with the underlying message, “I’m trying to save the world, one comedy show at a time.” and if he has to kick a kid off a bike to do it, well, you have to start somewhere.

Geek Comedy Showcase & The Wet Hot American Nerdity Comedy Show at GMX & Zanies

GMX: Geek Media Expo

The Geek Media Expo (“GMX”) is an annual exposition and social conference relating primarily to the popular arts, sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics, and relevant cultural/lifestyle themes, presented as an educational and multi-media entertainment showcase.

At the Geek Comedy Showcase you’ll hear material focusing on comic books, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, science and technology, action figure collecting, video games, cartoons, Dungeons & Dragons, cosplay, furries, etc. These are the bricks that make up the Castle Greyskull of humor which we know as the Geek Comedy Showcase. This 5pm show precedes the GMX Opening Ceremonies and features the comedy of: Michael Brown, Grant Schinto, Rob Haynes and Chad Riden.

The Wet Hot American Nerdity Comedy Show (WHANCS) is a hilarious celebration of obsession. A comedy show built by nerds for nerds. The GMX version of this show is at 1am Friday night / Saturday morning and features the comedy of: Michael Brown, Grant Schinto, Rob Haynes, Katrina Coleman and Chad Riden.

GMX tickets pre-sale has ENDED, but passes are available at the door. If you are unable to attend or afford GMX, we’ll be doing an hour and a half version of the show Sunday night at Zanies for just $10. The Zanies version of this show features the comedy of: Michael Brown, Grant Schinto, Rob Haynes, Michael Hampton, Katrina Coleman and Chad Riden. The event is currently listed on Zanies’ website as “The NashvilleStandUp Showcase” – but don’t worry, it’s us.
