Smorgasbord Showcase featuring: Nick Alexander (Charlotte), Mary Jay Berger (Nashville), Cameron Buchholtz (Oklahoma City), DJ Buckley (Nashville), Mo Arora (Atlanta), Brad Sativa (Nashville), Jim Seward (Nashville) & Chad Riden (America’s Favorite Comedian of All Time)
Nick Alexander is one of the top ranked comedians in the world, if you go by alphabetical order. Hailing from Charlotte, NC, Nick covers a wide range of subjects from comic books and dating to politics and religion. Nick has brought his ranty, witty and dark joke writing to comedy clubs, auditoriums and bars throughout a significant part of the country… depending on your definition of significant.
Mary Jay Berger is an awful person (her mom says she’s sassy). You don’t believe it because she’s so attractive but she is truly terrible. She hates sharing and loves telling people that she’s a doctor. Mary is not a doctor, but she does know more about Harry Potter than Neil deGrasse Tyson knows about anything.
Mary’s credits include: the Mary Watches Movies web series and being kicked out of a Titanic museum. She produces the monthly ‘Flying With Jaybird’ stand-up comedy show and tours the midwest and south east. See the reason Mary Jay Berger’s mom cries every day.
Cameron Buchholtz is a stand up comedian based in Oklahoma City, OK. He is a regular at comedy clubs across the country, has done theater shows with the likes of Chris Hardwick, Tig Notaro and Todd Barry, rock clubs with Michael Ian Black, Maria Bamford, and Neil Hamburger, festivals such as the Moontower Comedy Festival, Hell Yes Fest, FunFunFunFest, and the Gathering of the Juggalos, and took part in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition. He is also the host of the laid back interview podcast ‘CB Radio’, where every week he sits down with some of the biggest names in comedy and pop culture.
Mo Arora began his comedy career in Montreal, Canada, and is now based in Atlanta. As an Indian-Canadian and now a Canadian in America, Mo’s comedy often comes from a unique, outsider perspective. An expert writer, Mo articulates the bizarre ways people act when dealing with race, relationships, or getting a drink at the bar. He is also the host of the award-winning podcast, Laughmatic.
Brad Sativa brings his own quick-witted, crazy, intelligent prospective to comedy. His humor is very much influenced by events in his own personal Life. Brad goal is to perform comedy that will allow any demographic to relate.
Jim Seward didn’t follow the normal route to the entertainment business, having served 22 years in the US military. But after spending time in Iraq and using humor to get through stressful situations and to relax his troops, Jim decided to try his hand at stand-up comedy. Walking into his first open mic, he was told by the host he had two and a half minutes to make people laugh. Much to his surprise, they laughed and he never looked back. The truth is, though, Jim shouldn’t be a comic. His parents never divorced. His wife loves him (we don’t know why either, but we know it isn’t for money), his kids are relatively well adjusted. He wasn’t bullied in school. He doesn’t need a therapist. He’s never even been to jail for Pete’s sake. But despite all these major disadvantages, Jim has overcome his doubts and fears of being normal and managed to make people laugh at the reality of everyday living. His quick wit, take on kids, marriage, military experiences, travel and his memories of dating in the 80s takes the audience on a non-stop ride of laughter . Jim has a versatile range of topics that make him ideal from anything to a comedy club to corporate work to a private show. He’s even performed in churches and not been struck by lightning.
Jim has appeared in several episodes of Wicked Attractions and on FBI Takedowns. He also can be seen as the cop in the country music video by Love and Theft, “Night That You’ll Never Forget.” He has performed with Tommy Davidson, Rich Vos, John Heffron, Jon Reep, Bobby Collins and many more.
Chad Riden’s comedy is about his chaotic reality. His last few years have featured bankruptcy, divorce, foreclosure and the best shows of his life. Chad has appeared on “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, the Late Show with David Letterman’s “Tony Mendez Show,” ABC’s “Nashville,” and is featured on CMT-Canada’s upcoming “Mississippi Snake Grabbers.” Biding time until his “snake money starts rolling in” when he is “super duper MF’ing Canada Famous” – Riden continues to tour the nation using his smart-ass super powers for good, not evil.
“Chad’s a good guy. He’s been through a rough divorce and his heart is heavy; he’s got a burden. That burden makes him funny.” – Marc Maron, WTF episode 209 (September, 2011) & in Marc’s book “Attempting Normal.”
