11/17: Mary Mack on “Bob and Tom”

mary mack
NashvilleStandUp alumnus Mary Mack will be a guest on The Bob and Tom Radio Show Monday, November 17th. Other scheduled guests include Scott Dunn and Moody McCarthy.

BobAndTom.com/ says, “Folk ‘n Comedy: It’s true that folk humorist Mary Mack often recounts stories of her life, but unlike your boring uncle, she does it with a guitar up on stage and makes a living doing it.” (wait. Does she use a guitar? Last time we saw her she was playing her mandolin and clarinet.) “And seeing as she’s a former polka band leader, music teacher, and all-around confused individual, we’re guessing she’s got some pretty good stories. Mack recently won Bill Word’s California Funniest Female competition and is gaining a following across the country. You can normally pick out a Mary Mack show because her audience is usually the one partaking in grown-up sing-alongs.
Mary Mack is one of the most creative female comics working today. She’s very character-driven and very, very funny. She lived in Nashville a few years ago and performed all over the area before hitting the road.. so if you live near Nashville and you’ve never seen her live.. listen in to the Bob and Tom Show and kick yourself in the face for not supporting her and the rest of the Nashville comedy scene when you had the chance.

In Nashville, tune in to WRQQ 97.1 FM.

Keith Alberstadt on Bob & Tom Thursday

keith_alberstadt.jpg
Nashville’s own Keith Alberstadt is back on the Bob & Tom Radio Show again.. tune in Thursday, August 23rd. Here’s a note from Keith:

In other news….
After last year’s trip overseas to entertain our military, I requested to return in 2007 during the time when they would miss being home the most… over the holidays. That request has been honored, and I’m heading back to the Persian Gulf in December for about 5 weeks. It will be my third trip over there, and I’m looking forward to it.
In case you haven’t seen my latest writings on my website, you’ve been missing a lot.
I had an incredibly frightening nightmare recently that you can read about in my latest column.
And if you don’t keep up with the news, I got you covered. Read my August news item jokes here and here. Soon, I will also have them in a recorded podcast that you’ll be able to subscribe to. Stay tuned for that!
Thank you for the continued support. Hope to see you at a show sometime.
Keith

Mr. Alberstadt will be appearing at Zanies Comedy Showplace Sunday, August 24th at 7:30 p.m. as part of the “Late Show with David Letterman” audition showcase. Make reservations now, because that show will sell out fast!

The MangyDog Radio Hour Whoop-Dee-Doo!

texastoast.png
The “MangyDog Radio Hour Whoop-Dee-Doo” is a funny new podcast presented by the fine folks at ComedyPodcast.com that features stand-up comedy, skits, parody songs, prank calls and other wacky stuff. One recurring sketch is called “Texas Toast & His Talking Dog, Jesus” – written and conceived by Sean Parrott, the skit follows the adventures of Texas Toast taking on such opponents as nocturnal flying snakes with AIDS (and chainsaws with lasers).. armed only with a pocket knife and a talking dog. NashvilleStandUp’s Chad Riden does the voice for Texas Toast and very little else for this show, but fellow Nashville-based comedians Jesse Perry, Mark Anundson and Sean Parrott work hard on it and the show IS really funny.
Recent episodes includes stand-up comedy clips from Doug Stanhope, Bill Burr, Roy Wood, Jr., Tom Papa, Reno Collier, Greg Fitzsimmons, Pat Dixon, Mary Mack and Keith Alberstadt.. who (amazingly) even gave us permission to do so. (If you’re a comic who would like to send us a cd to play, contact us today!)
