The March Of The Gibby Tour: Darik Santos (America’s Got Talent) w/ Brian Barganier (Comedy Central, adult swim, Mtv) & Colin Cook at Spiffy Squirrel comedy show at The East Room 3/6/2016.
Darik Santos, a native of Providence, lives in Windsor Locks, Connecticut with his girlfriend’s family. Until recently, he has been doing stand-up comedy on the side from his job, until he was laid off from that job. “I was a security guard. I patrolled an empty parking lot. They gave me a flashlight and it didn’t even work,” he said.
Now he’s doing just stand-up. He’s performed at Strange Brew in Norwich, Brew Ha Ha in Hartford, Comics at Foxwoods, the Joker’s Wild in New Haven and other area bars and nightclubs. Santos got his start in stand-up doing goofy things on stage. “I would do karaoke or sleep on stage. … I would go up and take my shoe off and then take my sock off and then blow my nose in my sock and then put the sock back on,” he said. “They thought I was just this crazy person.”
When he moved into more verbal stand-up, he favored puns. “Fozzy Bear [from ‘The Muppet Show’] was the first comedian I ever saw and is still my favorite comedian ever,” he said. “I wanted to write jokes like that … really short, quick one liners that keep people interested.” He calls himself a “commodian,” because he tells a lot of toilet jokes. “I’m feeling very flushed right now,” he said.
“America’s Got Talent” producers didn’t seek Darik out, he sought them out. “My mother called me and said ‘they’re doing auditions in Providence, you should go.’ So I called out of work and went. I waited in line for six hours,” he said. “I was delirious. I had the flu. I went anyway. I don’t know what they saw in me but somehow they liked me.
For years now Brian Barganier has been tearing up the comedy scenes in New York City and now is headlining around the country. The Connecticut native’s style runs comfortably on the edge of conventional and alternative comedy. He is described mostly as what can only be called “planned carelessness,” Although he is seen as being morbid or crude sometimes, Brian always manages to pull a 180 and find the funny in topics that sometimes seem untouchable. He has a full length CD and DVD entitled “Jokes Intended for Crickets”

Jim Seward & Friends at Spiffy Squirrel stand-up comedy show at The East Room 2/14/2016.
Jim Seward didn’t follow the normal route to the entertainment business, having served 22 years in the US military. But after spending time in Iraq and using humor to get through stressful situations and to relax his troops, Jim decided to try his hand at stand-up comedy. Walking into his first open mic, he was told by the host he had two and a half minutes to make people laugh. Much to his surprise, they laughed and he never looked back. The truth is, though, Jim shouldn’t be a comic. His parents never divorced. His wife loves him (we don’t know why either, but we know it isn’t for money), his kids are relatively well adjusted. He wasn’t bullied in school. He doesn’t need a therapist. He’s never even been to jail for Pete’s sake. But despite all these major disadvantages, Jim has overcome his doubts and fears of being normal and managed to make people laugh at the reality of everyday living. His quick wit, take on kids, marriage, military experiences, travel and his memories of dating in the 80s takes the audience on a non-stop ride of laughter . Jim has a versatile range of topics that make him ideal from anything to a comedy club to corporate work to a private show. He’s even performed in churches and not been struck by lightning.
Jim has appeared in several episodes of Wicked Attractions and on FBI Takedowns. He also can be seen as the cop in the country music video by Love and Theft, “Night That You’ll Never Forget.” He has performed with Tommy Davidson, Rich Vos, John Heffron, Jon Reep, Bobby Collins and many more.
