The Redneck Riviera Tour comes to Nashville – June 9th

“Internet-famous” comedy music duo Stuckey & Murray team up with the “irresistibly infectious and rowdy” DEFiBULATORs for a Southeastern tour, which stops in Nashville June 9th at 3rd & Lindsley. Showtime is 7:30. Stuckey & Murray were last seen performing in Nashville in 2005 as part of their “Family Reunion Tour.”

New York City’s greatest left-handed, comedy music duo (Stuckey & Murray) are hitting the road with country music darlings, the DE- FiBULATORs. The Redneck Riviera Tour is a two act party you don’t want to miss. Packed with laughs, videos and great music, Stuckey and Murray and the DEFiBULATORs tear their way across the South for 10 days this June.

Each show begins with Stuckey & Murray who will make their Network television debut on NBC this summer on Last Comic Standing. The duo sings hilarious, original songs that have been seen by millions on the web and whoever watches MTV, VH-1 and E!’s “Chelsea Handler Show”. Once you’re warmed up, it’s time to get rowdy with the foot-stomping music of The DEFiBULATORs, who have emerged as one of the most engaging live acts from the thriving roots scene in Brooklyn, NY – melding, bluegrass, rockabilly, dixieland and punk into their own eclectic sound.
The tour kicks off in Stuckey’s home state of Alabama at the Bama Jam Music Festival, winds its way through Georgia and Tennessee and ends in the heart of the Redneck Riviera at the world famous Flora-Bama.

Stuckey & Murray
Andy Stuckey and Jon Murray are more than a comedy music duo they’re an anomaly. Since the erection of their comedy empire 10 years ago, Stuckey & Murray have won the affection of their parents and millions of fans by appearing on E!’s “Pre-Oscar Show”, “The Chelsea Handler Show”, and The Discovery Channel’s “Cash Cab”.

Their music videos and sketches have resulted in over 20 million hits on the web and they’ve built a fan base around the world by touring and performing at The Virgin Music Festival, The Edinburgh Fringe, The Montreal Comedy Fest, and at All Points West. Europeans tend to call them “supercool”.

Here’s Stuckey and Murray’s song about TV Drama’s live at Comix in NYC:

Their two studio albums – Destination: Rock Bottom and Mythical Fornication (co-produced by Dean Baltulonis, The Hold Steady) are both available at www.stuckeyandmurray.com, Cdbaby.com, and the iTunes Music Store. Stuckey & Murray are played frequently on Sirius Radio and morning radio shows. They’ve also composed music for MTV, NBC and even Billy Ray Cyrus. No, I’m not joking. P. Diddy has called their music “dope” and Shakira has shaken her hips to their songs. And Shakira’s hips don’t lie.

On a side-note, Stuckey & Murray recently delved into fashion with their invention of a one-piece tuxedo called The Fuxedo. You can check it out at www.thefuxedo.com. Yes, it’s a real thing:

The Colbert Report – Nashville Flood Wakeboarder

During the big flood we heard a lot of complaints that the national news media weren’t talking about the situation in Nashville. Well, these people obviously weren’t watching CNN or The Weather Channel or, more importantly, The Colbert Report on Comedy Central:

He Ain’t No Blue Collar Comedy Trash, He’s Fucking Billy Wayne Davis

TotallyCrushedOut has an interview with NashvilleStandUp alum Billy Wayne Davis. To introduce him, they say:

“Anybody that has been around the Seattle comedy scene knows the name Billy Wayne Davis. He’s a self-described hillbilly who has a distinctly intellectual aspect to his stand-up. His comedy is polished and smart. It is not what you (or Hollywood Agents) expect when you hear his distinct Southern accent. I’ve seen him perform numerous occasions and am always surprised at how well he handles himself and put hecklers in their place.”

B-dub talks about how he got into comedy, his worst day job ever, why he moved to Seattle, fighting the ‘stupid southern hick’ stereotype, and how he balances his life on the road with having a wife and a baby.

Read the whole interview at totallycrushedoutmag.com. If you visit Billy Wayne Davis’ website over at BillyWayneDavis.com, you can read about his current bus tour with Ralphie May:

This week I’m flying down to Sacramento on Thursday and doing the Crest Theatre with Ralphie May. Then, we hop on a tour bus up to Portland for a show on Friday at the Newmark. End up in Seattle at the Moore on Saturday and the Met in Spokane on Sunday…….I’ll be flip camming the whole trip and updating them on my YouTube page…….more to come.

UPDATE:

We just learned that BW will appear in a documentary about Seattle comedy appropriately called “Seattle Komedy DokumentaЯy.” The first trailer was just released with this note from the producers: “In 2007, Seattle was at the epicenter of an amazing stand-up comedy movement. This documentary follows the very recent rise, fall and rebirth of the alternative comedy scene and proves that Seattle is many things, but one of those things is a place where great players get their start.”
