Maria Bamford @ Zanies Wed-Thurs

The Bammer is here! Don’t miss one of the “Comedians Of Comedy” – she’s only going to be at Zanies Wednesday and Thursday nights. Here’s a clip of Maria discussing the “Crazy Office” Myth:

UPDATE from Chad Riden (Nov. 6):
Last night I opened for Maria Bamford at Zanies & it was a ton of fun.. but the place wasn’t sold out the way I automatically assumed it would be. It absolutely astounded me that tickets were available.. still does. I wasn’t even going to bother to tell people to come out, I thought it was universally understood that this was a DO NOT MISS event. Her Comedy Central Presents specials are both at the top of my list of ones I’ll watch every time they come on tv, no matter how many times I’ve seen them. Her cd’s get more plays in my house than any other comic’s cds. I went to see her and the rest of the Comedians Of Comedy any time they were within two states of where I was at the time. She’s that good. If you’re six hours away from Nashville right now, you should get in your car and start driving.
If you haven’t seen her, check her YouTube clip on the front of NashvilleStandUp.com right now. She is crazy funny and does a few voices and act-outs and is sweet and wonderful and a perfect example of everything that is GOOD in the world. I realize I gush about her, but I love this woman. LOVE HER. I just want to hug her and squeeze more funny out. It’s ok, my wife knows.. she loves Maria probably more than I do, if that’s possible. Bamford is one of those people who is NOT extroverted. She’s not dominating conversations, interrupting your story with something better or funnier.. she’s a quiet listener. An absolute sweetheart who listens to what people say and watches how they say it and pays attention to the world.. and then goes on stage and reproduces the funny absurdities of how people act and talk and turns the everyday mundane into the “holy shit” hilarious. She is amazing.
Sometimes people say, “women aren’t funny” and I ALWAYS reply, “wrong. Maria Bamford.” There are other funny ladies out there, too.. but I challenge anybody to watch The Bammers and then say women aren’t funny. It simply does not happen.
I’m just saying that she’s only in town for two shows – last night and tonight at 7:30. Tickets are $18 each (if you are on Zanies email list, which I highly recommend, you can get them for cheaper). Come on out. If you pay to get in because of what I just said and at the end of the show you aren’t totally smitten with Maria, I, Chad Riden, will personally refund the cost of your tickets out of my own pocket. We can then no longer be friends, of course.. but you’ll get your money back.
Friday thru Sunday the headliner is Nick Griffin, as seen on Letterman.. I’m sure those will be great shows too.. but I’ve never met him or seen his act yet. Friday I might just send an email talking about how much I love him, too, for all I know.. but I’m tellin’ you. Don’t miss tonight.

Win Free Tickets: Jackasses Of Comedy @ Zanies 3/9, 3/10

Friday March 9th and Saturday March 10th, The Jackasses Of Comedy bring their snarky remarks, slander and slams to Zanies Comedy Showplace in Nashville. Doing a series of late-show-only performances (9:45pm on Friday & 11:15pm on Saturday), the Jackasses probably aren’t the best choice for your next church group outing.. but if you like politically incorrect, socially irresponsible, adult-themed stand-up – put down the bong and come out to the show.
The line-up for these shows includes “The Tennessee Tramp” Janet Williams, “America’s Favorite Comedian Of All Time” Chad Riden, “Improvisational Genius” Jesse Perry, and “Token Minority Comedian So It’s Not Just Whiteys” Damian Anaya. The Nashville Scene recently wrote, “Las Vegas has the Rat Pack, and Tennessee has this loose consortium of stand-up comedians.” Leave it to the Scene to encapsulate the sharp-tongued, anti-establishment spirit of the Jackasses Of Comedy with such a contemporary, hip reference and a word like “consortium”. Sigh. Regardless, they’re right.. the Jackasses are pretty much the modern-day Frank Sinatra – Dean Martin – Sammy Davis, Jr. – Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop’s of the state. Come on out to check out Chad Riden’s creepy glass eye.
Want tickets? Register now! (EDIT: Registration has ended.)

We’ll give away two (2!) sets of two (2!) tickets to each of the two (2!) shows. Winners will be announced right here on Thursday, March 8th.. and will be notified by email.

Is that a sparkle in his eye or is he just confused? With his innocence and friendly demeanor Mitch quickly engages the audience and then catches them off guard with his mixture of mischievous dialog and off color comments. While laughing at observations only Mitch can get away with we are left wondering if he truly understands what he just said. We never really know.
Mitch has been showcasing his talent to rave reviews for the past 10 years. Since then both appreciative audiences and comedy executives have made the same observation about Mitch’s rise to stardom, “It’s just a matter of time.” Well his time has come. After numerous spots on both the “Late Show with David Letterman” and the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” Mitch is quickly establishing himself as a comedic star. In addition Mitch is one of the few comedians to have ever appeared on “Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist” twice.
An invitation to the prestigious Montreal Comedy Festival this year can only mean more exciting things to come. The Hollywood Reporter also named Mitch as one of their best bets for future fame. He is not retarded.
See for yourself why this unique act has been earning rave reviews wherever he goes.

Also appearing tonight only..
Chad Riden
The Nashville Scene’s Martin Brady recently wrote, “One of Nashville’s staunchest promoters of comedy, Riden is also a pretty funny guy in his own right. His aggressive, angry-young-man stance of a few years ago has been leavened somewhat, since Riden more recently entered the world of marriage and fatherhood. His observations on the domestic sphere teeter amiably on the edge, but when he wants to, Riden can still zing pop culture, the media and American life in general with incisive wit.”

T.C. Cope
Since dedicating his heart to being a comedian, T.C. has touched people everywhere with the message, “Laughing is Living ” as a technique for survival. As a child, when family gatherings became a time to act silly and onerous, T.C. figured, “I can live with that”. When young and old friends came over to hear local imitations, T.C.
figured, ‘“Laughing is Living” and everybody can live with that’.
