184-hour long #BrokenRecordShow kicks off #WWCF2017 at 5am Easter Sunday at Third Coast Comedy Club and runs non-stop 24-hours-a-day through Sunday April 23, 2017 at 9:26pm.

Beginning at 5am on Sunday, April 16th, 2017, Nashville StandUp will attempt to set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for “LONGEST COMEDY VARIETY SHOW” at Third Coast Comedy Club in Nashville, TN as part of the Wild West Comedy Festival. Nashville Standup is the current record holder for “LONGEST STANDUP COMEDY SHOW – MULTIPLE COMEDIANS” – a record it has topped twice.

The non-stop, 24-hours-a-day, 8+ day schedule will feature showcases, feature-length, and headliner-length sets, and will include surprise drop-ins from comedians of various levels of fame and fortune (and infamy and misfortune) PLUS sketch and improv comedy group performances! The show is co-produced by Nashville-based comedians DJ Buckley, Chad Riden and Mary Jay Berger.

From April 12-20, 2015, NashvilleStandUp.com produced the first World Record setting #BrokenRecordShow in Nashville, Tennessee – a non-stop 184 hour, 16 minute long standup comedy show that more than doubled the previous GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title of “Longest Stand-Up Comedy Show – Multiple Comedians.” The show featured about 100 comedians, including surprise celebrity guest sets from Hannibal Buress, Eric Andre, Rory Scovel, Nate Bargatze, Luis J. Gomez, Keith Alberstadt, Jon Reep, Ahmed Ahmed and Killer Beaz.

The only thing more pointless and silly than more than DOUBLING a world record would be topping your own title by just five minutes. Guess what we did? #BrokenRecordShow vol. 2 started at 5am May 15, 2016 and ran non-stop through 4:01pm May 24th as an official part of the Wild West Comedy Festival. That’s 227 hours and 1 minute. Due to a snafu which broke the show, the clock was restarted and the official record-breaking showtime was 184 hours and 21 minutes according to GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS rules. Over 120 comedians performed, including: Rory Scovel, Nate Bargatze, Jay Larson, Nick Thune, Geoff Tate, Ben Kronberg, Sara Tiana, Joe Derosa, Josh Wolf, Tom Simmons, Stewart Huff, Megan Gailey, Ahmed Ahmed, Dave Ross, and Myq Kaplan. Ben Kronberg said, “It was the most unique legit special comedy experience I’ve probably ever had.”

While conquering the “Longest Stand-Up Comedy Show – Multiple Comedians” record twice, the producers were constrained by very specific rules about what could be allowed on stage during the show. For #BrokenRecordShow vol.3, in order to compliment Third Coast Comedy Club’s mission to empower local artists to produce every form of comedy (stand-up, sketch, improv, comedic plays, variety shows, live podcasts, and talk shows), #BrokenRecordShow producers decided to try something new – setting a record for “LONGEST COMEDY VARIETY SHOW” including stand-up, sketch and improv acts.

It’s The Greatest Dumbest Thing We’ve Ever Done Again.. And Again.

#BrokenRecordShow vol.3 begins at 5am on Easter Sunday, April 16th, 2017 and continues through 9:26pm Sunday, April 23rd (senselessly beating #BrokenRecordShow’s “LONGEST STAND-UP COMEDY SHOW – MULTIPLE COMEDIANS” record’s run time by five minutes) for a total of 184 hours and 26 minutes.

GUINNESS rules dictate that there must be at least 10 audience members at all times. No matter what time of day or night, somebody will be on stage telling jokes, so go hang out. “DAY DRINKER” passes are available for just $5 from 5am – 5pm every day. 24-HOUR PASSES are $10 and ALL ACCESS and VIP options are also available which allow patrons to come and go as they please throughout the entire festival. Beginning on Sunday, April 16th, 2017 at 5am, Nashville StandUp will attempt to top the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for “LONGEST VARIETY SHOW” at Third Coast Comedy Club in Nashville, TN as part of the Wild West Comedy Festival. The current record is 100 hours, 49 minutes and was accomplished by Ranjini Kalakendra and Sri Sankara TV at Freedom Park, Bengaluru, India, February 6-10, 2015. Nashville Standup is the current record holder for “LONGEST STANDUP COMEDY SHOW – MULTIPLE COMEDIANS” – a record it has topped twice.

The non-stop, 24-hours-a-day, 8+ day schedule will feature showcases, feature-length, and headliner-length sets, and will include surprise drop-ins from comedians of various levels of fame and fortune (and infamy and misfortune). While conquering the marathon comedy show record, producers were constrained by very specific rules about what could be allowed on stage during the show. In order to compliment Third Coast Comedy Club’s mission to empower local artists to produce every form of comedy (stand-up, sketch, improv, comedic plays, variety shows, live podcasts, and talk shows), this year the #BrokenRecordShow team decided to attempt to top the “LONGEST VARIETY SHOW” record, which allows a wider variety of types of acts in addition to everybody’s undisputed favorite – hilarious stand-up comedy.

“If there was a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for ‘The Most Times A Group Of Idiots Broke The Same World Record Even Though Nobody Else Has Tried To Top Them Because What They’re Doing Is So Incredibly Silly,’ we’d go after that one too,” said #BrokenRecordShow producer Chad Riden.

A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title Adjudicator was on site to certify the attempt as an official world record on Wednesday April 15th at 8pm.. but the show kept going until Monday, April 20th, at 4:20am. Hundreds of people attended the event and even more watched online. The successful attempt was covered by many local and international media outlets and mentioned in countless social media posts. It was the greatest, dumbest thing we ever did.

After April 1 at Noon, ALL ACCESS tickets will sell for $60 online and at the door. Have you ever gone to a stand-up comedy show and had such a good time that you wished it would never end?

Well, have we got a show for you! Beginning April 12, 2015, at The East Room in Nashville, TN, the NashvilleStandUp comedy scene, friends and special guests will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the “Longest stand-up comedy show – multiple comedians.” The current record is 80 hours and was achieved by the Laugh Factory in Hollywood December 6-9, 2010. That show included 170 different acts by 150 comedians.

We plan on breaking their 3.3 day / 80 hour record and continuing through the entire duration of the Wild West Comedy Festival until April 19th. That’s 8 days, 192 non-stop hours of stand-up comedy featuring as many talented comedians from as many places as we can manage.

The brainchild of Nashville-based comic DJ Buckley, the Guinness World Records’ breaking attempt show will begin and end with The East Room’s weekly “Spiffy Squirrel comedy show“ with Chad Riden on Sunday nights & also include Tuesday’s regular “ULTIMATE COMEDY“ open mic and several other shows-within-the-show. The non-stop 192 hour schedule will feature showcases, feature length and headliner length sets and surprise drop-ins from comedians of various levels of fame and fortune AND infamy and misfortune.

WHAT!? NO! Why?

The Nashville Comedy scene wants nothing more than to put Nashville into the record books of comedy history, but we can’t do it without you. Comedy shows can be fun no matter how intimate the crowd, but this will certainly go much better with you there. Wait, what’s that? You can’t make it to Nashville, because you’re too far away and it’s expensive? No need to worry, we have plans to live stream the event. Yes, all eight days of it. We’d also love to film a documentary about all of this, too, but that’s going to take money.. and we are a group of poor dummies who thought it was a good idea to do comedy for a living.

HOW?

We do have smart, creative friends who are willing to help make all of this happen. We want to cover their expenses and gather the resources we need to do this right. We want to make laminates, print up swag and buy some SD cards for video cameras and be able to staff the venue and run the show non-stop for 192 hours! Also, there is a rather large fee to have the Guinness people send an official representative out to judge the world record attempt. WE WILL DO THIS NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, but we would much rather do it with your support so we can do it RIGHT.

We have launched an IndieGoGo crowd-funding campaign to help pay for this event. Perks include VIP passes, special silk screened show t-shirts, limited edition Hatch Show Print show posters, even chances to perform on stage and be included in the Guinness book of world records. Also, you’ll have an all-access pass to see multiple hosts and hundreds of comics driven to madness by a relentless amount of comedy as many times as you want.

Risks & Challenges

Our plan is bullet-proof. We’ve all promised each other that we’ll never, ever not completely follow through with this. That said, God is cruel and here are several ways he could possibly smote us:

Some dumb comedian bails on his set and walks off or doesn’t show.
The East Room is destroyed by terrorists who hate freedom and comedy.

Here is how we beat the odds and do this anyway:
We’ll have an Emergency Back-Up Comedian on deck at all times.
We will rise from the ashes and continue to sling zingers in the debris.

– Please help get the word out and make some noise about this.
– Volunteer to help! We’ll need a/v people, merch booth people, etc
– SHOW UP at the show! We need butts in the seats. Everybody will be much more comfortable with a full audience.
